Bariatric surgery is also an option but carries the risks of major surgery. An Algorithm to follow for the pharmacological treatment of non-fertility indications is available at (algorithm3; (10) accessible at: monash.edu/medicine/mchri/pcos/ guideline https://doi. org/10.26180/24003834.v1 ) CONCLUSION PCOS is a complex disorder. It is necessary to take an adequate history, examination and appropriate investigations to identify women and adolescents who have or who are at risk of developing PCOS. It is important to treat the symptoms and to educate the woman, especially if an adolescent, and her family. The transition to adult care should be planned. Continued education and reinforcement of co-morbidities and possible complications should continue. Referral should be to a general medical practitioner who has a holistic overview of the process and who can refer appropriately based on the intervention required. An excellent network of endocrinologists, gynaecologists, fertility specialists, physicians and general practitioners is required for long termmanagement. Future research is aimed at identifying at risk prepubertal and early pubertal girls to prevent the consequences of PCOS. REFERENCES
