Ismail offered a profound perspective on fostering mental health and wellbeing in workplace environments. Her insights underscore the role that workplaces play in supporting mental health and the legal obligations that accompany it. In support of SADAG’s mission, Naazia shares the same sentiments, to reach as many people as possible to educate them about the impact of mental health on every aspect of life. By challenging stigma, dispelling myths, and normalising conversations around mental health, we aim to create environments where people feel comfortable reaching out for help. "When mental health is openly discussed and supported, it has a profound impact on employees' productivity and overall life satisfaction," Naazia explained. For psychiatrists and mental health professionals working in occupational health, understanding these rights is key to supporting clients effectively. The Impact of Mental Health in the Workplace The mental health crisis has highlighted the urgent need for improved mental health resources, support systems, and awareness to address this growing concern in South Africa. In South Africa, statistics are exceedingly high indicating the number of people bound to experience a mental health disorder at some point, making workplace mental health a vital area for attention. Stress, anxiety, and depression are increasingly common among employees, with high demands, tight deadlines, and constant connectivity as contributing factors.
