Are you treating an adult patient with Cerebral Palsy or Special Needs? Are their parents ageing or battling with the physical and emotional demands, or does your patient simply want more interaction with peers and the opportunity to create friends? More than likely they are turning to you for answers. Have you thought of Forest Farm as a solution? We are a “home away from home”. We are a family, a safe, caring and happy place. We are a professional facility serving adults with Cerebral Palsy or Special Needs. Today, Forest Farm is home to more than 80 residents supported by 81 staff, including House Mothers, caregivers and full-time Nursing staff, ensuring nurturing care in a structured environment. We offer arange of living options for varying degrees of independence or dependence, from mild to severe. The Cottages cater to our more able-bodied residents and The Haven is dedicated to caring for our most severely dis- abled and elderly residents, many of whom have underlying medical conditions. Daily meals are shared in the dining room which is serviced by a professional catering company. The menu is planned and supervised by a dietician who facilitates any medical dietary requirements. It’s a noisy, often messy, but happy fam- ily affair when residents catch up on the latest news and gossip. Forest Farm offers a workshop/work environment. Residents are paid a nominal wage and derive a huge sense of achievement and self-worth. A competitive spirit and “office politics” are the order of the day. Residents not able to participate in the workshop can enjoy a variety of creative or musical activities and everyone is welcome in the stimulation center. Should residents have medical appointments or off-site therapy, Forest Farm has full-time drivers to transport them. The year is punctuated by many social events: birthdays, concerts, performances by professional artists, Ladies Tea, Men’s day, family day, sporting days, braais, sponsored holidays, external cultural and social visits, to mention a few. In between all the activity and home visits, residents are encouraged to develop hobbies and interests, take advantage of DSTV access or the internet to remain connected to family, friends and the world. Our Social worker is available to discuss any concerns with residents or their parents and constantly monitors the well-being of our residents. Forest Farm strives to be the best “home away from home” for your patient and is constantly growing and evolving. Talk to us - the greatest beneficiary is your patient and our residents!
